Living on a farm you learn gratitude. That is important to me. I wanted my boys to learn what the dirt can give you. Making something from nothing through hard work, sweat and perseverance.
Four years ago we started our first 200 heads of lavender. One whole weekend of fighting, complaining, sweating and oh boy did we learn. Through it all, we have learned so much of what the dirt can give us……life, love, learning, memories, patiences, beauty. We are now up to 900 plants, still learning and yes still arguing, but those moments when my son walks in the door sunburnt, sweaty, dirty……he looks out the window his eyes light up and says to me “Mom look how beautiful the lavender looks” yes that dirt gave him gratitude! I love life on the farm.
